'The band that we have is like all stars,' he says before rattling off the roster of legends on touring as part of Global Noize. While Logic has collaborated in the past with Phish, Medeski Martin and Wood, Blues Traveler's John Popper, Vernon Reid and many others, he says this ensemble is as exciting as any band he's played with. And if videos from this tour are any indication, what the band is doing live far exceeds the solid grounding that the record provides - and this live prowess is, of course, due in part to the crew of musical stalwarts playing in the band. Global Noize cranks out a combination of Eastern and Western influences, including Indian, calypso and West African sounds (among many others) all of which are tied together with a dance party vibe. OK, that's vague, but at least it's thematically vague, which is a much easier-to-swallow type of vagueness. 'World music is music that communicates with everyone regardless of what style it is,' he says. 'World Music' is quite possibly the most vaguely classified musical genre under the sun - seeing as how it seems to encapsulate all music save albums that originate on Mars or anywhere else outside what could be described as 'the world.' But Logic has a bit better definition. I was picked up after lunch and did the 2nd part of the tour out to Silver Falls State Park. I was dropped at Pine Street Market for lunch - I had a Ramen Bowl at Marukin Market which was just superb! The market features features nine of Portland's best chefs and purveyors, in a casual, open layout. In Portland we visited the Tom McCall Waterfront Park, the American Japanese Historical Plaza, the Lan Su Chinese Garden, Pittock Mansion, Washington Park Rose Garden and drive-throughs of the Pearl and Alphabet Districts. The Silver Falls State Park alternative was great. This part of the tour replaced the Columbia Gorge Falls which was not possible due to the damage caused by the recent wildfires. The first half of the day was spent around Portland and in the afternoon we went to Silver Falls State Park. He was so knowledgeable and shared some great stories. The tour guide/driver, Phil, was so great. Everything went smoothly and I was contacted by the tour company before the tour started to confirm my pick up at the nominated hotel. I booked this tour online as we were driving from Seattle to Portland.
